COMMUNITY OUTREACH MINISTRY

Focal Scripture: “Then the righteous will answer him, `Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? The King will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine you did for me’. Matthew 25: 37-40 NIV.

Purpose: To provide needed services to Milwaukee community residents, offering helpful information and invitations to join God’s family at Calvary Baptist Church. Also offers Calvary members and volunteers opportunities to give of their time and talents in the service of Christ.

What we do: Calvary is committed to serving two monthly meals to the residents in the community (forth Saturdays – dinner and third Sundays -breakfast), and providing clothing via our clothes closet; school supplies and other resources are distributed during the calendar year. Outreach activities also provide an opportunity to fellowship with the community members and to tell the Good News about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Local residents participate in devotional activities and have also taken leadership roles in praise and worship activities during the meals. These activities have led some community residents to join Calvary and become active members giving back to the food program as cooks and servers. We also shop for supplies and food for activities that serve the community.

When we meet: The third Saturday of each month at 12 noon at Calvary.

Who can join: Any Calvary member who has the heart and passion to serve and witness to the community. Children are encouraged to volunteer at events with adult supervision.
